The Letseng Legacy
Safdico, in a closed envelope tender held at the HRD, the Antwerp World Diamond Council, outbid the world's leading diamantaires today, for a remarkable 493 carat diamond.
Ranked as the 18th largest diamond ever found, the Letseng Legacy was named to reflect the growing legacy that the Letseng Mine, where the stone was unearthed, is creating as a producer of significant diamonds.
Johnny Kneller, Safdico's Northern Hemisphere CEO, commented : "We are very pleased to have once again made the winning bid for such an historic diamond. To have acquired the Letseng Legacy as well as the Lesotho Promise is a great achievement for Safdico and for Mr. Graff. This diamond will, of course, be cut in Antwerp."
Indeed, as the manufacturing operation for Graff Jewellers, Safdico will study and cut the stone in Antwerp and the polished result will be marketed through Graff's extensive retail operation.
