Brian Gutkin

Brian Gutkin was born in South Africa in 1951. His first acquaintance with the diamond industry came in 1979 when he began working as a rough diamond buyer.

In 1985 he acquired Sightholder Krochmal & Cohen Diamond Cutting works with Johnny Kneller.

Their leadership and application of the latest technologies resulted in a focused and committed workforce. Brian launched the Hope brand in 2001 and his continuing involvement has ensured a strong position for the brand in key markets worldwide.

Brian has held prestigious positions within the South African diamond industry. These include Chairman of the Master Diamond Cutters Association and Vice Chairman of the Jewellery Council of South Africa. Brian is responsible for Group Manufacturing and Finance and lives in Johannesburg.
