Shanghai Sun

The next World Expo will take place in Shanghai, from May 1 to october 31 2010.

The Expo site is located at waterfront area on both sides of the Huangpu River, between Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge. The theme is « Better City, Better Life ». Shanghai Expo will be the biggest World Expo ever with 220 confirmed participants and 70 million visitors expected.

Belgium will of course be present as the event marks will be a driving force for Belgian companies in China, is an excellent vehicle to promote Belgium and Brussels to the world, strengthen Sino-Belgium cooperation and also promote Belgian touristic opportunities.

The Belgian Pavilion is a project from the Federal Government in close cooperation with the Regional governments and also with important support of Belgian companies, institutes and organizations.

Safdico

Safdico participates to the Expo by exhibiting a stunning 100.88 carat Fancy Intense Yellow diamond. Originating from Botswana, the jewel was cut by Safdico in Antwerp.

The Shanghai Sun was presented to Mr. Xí Jìnpíng by Mr Johnny Kneller, CEO of Safdico, during his last visit to Belgium. A senior leader of the People's Republic of China, he currently serves as the top-ranking member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China, the country's Vice President.
