RAPAPORT...

Diamond manufacturing company Safdico will soon open an office in the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), the company's chief Brian Gutkin told Rapaport News.

The office will be used as a sales and distribution location to buy and sell rough and polished diamonds, Gutkin (pictured) explained.

Safdico has offices and cutting facilities in Geneva, Johannesburg, Gaborone, Antwerp and New York. The company purchases rough from the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) in three centers and is active on the outside market internationally.

Gutkin said the move was motivated by Israel’s growing importance as a trading center. The office in the Yahalom building of the IDE is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2010.
