HRH Princess Anne visit

07.07.2011

Safdico Botswana CEO Rutang Moses was delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Anne to the Graff Leadership Centre in Mochudi Botswana.

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne planted a tree to represent the growth and development of tomorrow’s Batswana leaders. These are leaders that will absorb wisdom from the roots of the Mochudi community.

Her Royal Highness’ presence at the Graff Leadership Center demonstrated commitment to campaigns aimed at improving lives of children and young women through better education, training and opportunity, an aspiration shared with Laurence Graff’s FACET Foundation (For Africa’s Children Every Time).

World renowned jeweler and diamantaire Laurence Graff founded FACET with the objective of giving back to the African communities in which its sister company Safdico, part of the Graff Group of companies, purchases its rough diamonds. FACET will sponsor the “Finding the Leader Within” programme, a groundbreaking project aimed to empower orphaned and vulnerable youth, to attain employment, sustain a respectable quality of life and become productive members of society. The programme is housed in the newly built Graff Leadership Centre. The Centre, managed in partnership with Stepping Stones International and SAFDICO, hosts computer and leadership training, job and life skills, tutoring and income generating activities. The beneficiaries of the Leadership Centre will include more than 500 youth and their families with outreach to a further 6500 community members.

This is a wonderful illustration of Botswana’s diamonds impacting positively on its environment and planting seeds for future generations.
