From rough stone to exquisite diamond

The transformation from rough stone into an exquisitely cut and polished diamond is a long and complex one.

First, the stones are sorted into size, colour and model. Then they may be examined for sawing, if appropriate. Often, when a stone is examined with the latest scanning technology, the process can take many months before the final ideal outcome is revealed. Different criteria at this stage include yield or commercial preferences.

The stone will then undergo high-precision laser sawing and polishing. Here, impurities may be detected, so the stone is constantly studied and checked by our expert gemologists.

The stone is then sent for certification at either the Gemological Institute of America in New York, or the HRD Diamond High Council in Antwerp. Each diamond is subsequently graded according to Cut, Clarity, Carat Weight and Colour, with further notes on polishing, symmetry and brilliance.

Throughout the entire manufacturing cycle, each and every diamond is monitored by a customized tracking system, which ensures absolute quality, accountability, traceability and provenance.

Every Safdico diamond is unique. It is the paragon of perfection.
